This work studies Peruvian exports to the Asia Pacific region with descriptive statistics and economic methods focused on solving the issue: do Peruvian exports positively impact economic growth? And also, if the signing of free trade agreements (FTAs) improves or worsens that relationship. The Peruvian exports to the northeast and southeast regions of Asia are reviewed, also the composition of exports is analyzed. Besides this first descriptive method a series of minimum square models are estimated for this purpose, the considered Asia Pacific countries are the ones which Peru has an FTA: China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and Singapore. Control variables are also used, such as production factors (labor and capital) and a covid dummy variable. The findings revealed that there is no evidence of any correlation between exports and GDP, in addition, that TLCs did not affect the exports-GDP relationship, nor the gross domestic product.
